Why use Joomla as your website software

If you have some level of technical ability you may quite easily build your own website using Joomla CMS.  Think of Joomla as a building block and bass software platform in which you can build your website by adding written content, images etc.

Now, I am not saying Joomla will suit everyone, because if you want an e-commerce website to sell goods online, then (in my opinion) Joomla is not suitable.  You can purchase cheap web hosting for your Joomla website so you may want to shop around and see what web hosting plans are available and make sure they offer Joomla as an option.

Some companies offer pre-installed web hosting with Joomla all ready for you just to add your menus, content, images etc.  There are many free and paid add on software packages you can also install into Joomla which will give you additional functions you may like to have on your web site and most of them are fairly cheap and there are also many which are free.  So don't think building your own website is an expensive exercise, Joomla will make it much easier for you.  You can also find free Joomla templates you can download and install which will change the look and feel of your website, or you could pay to get a Joomla template made which will use your own color scheme and logo.

There are other CMS options like Drupal, Concrete and a few others, however, I think Joomla is the most supported with user forums and great documentation and there are plenty of web designers and website builders who already use Joomla and they should be able to assist you, when you think your site needs a more professional look that what you can achieve with your current skill set. Other professionals should be able to assist you in upgrading the look and feel of your Joomla website.
